Haigs is a small family owned business established in 2007 by James and Julie Haig. Our commitment and drive is to produce what we believe is the ultimate balance in meat retail combining customer service, variety of quality product, hours and service to match today’s customer needs and overall bringing the right price to our locally sourced and hand made traditional products.

We have both recently worked for a very high class organic meat company with James being Manager for over 5 years.

James Haig, Master Butcher has over 20 years experience within the meat industry, he has had a very busy and rewarding career serving customers such as Harrod’s, Harvey Nichols, Spencer House, Claridge’s and many more. James career began in Scotland as a young apprentice butcher, serving his time with a top shop winner he personally won Scottish Young Butcher of the year, since then his career has gone from strength to strength being involved in senior butchery management for a major retailer, Q Guild shop manager in central London, and involved in senior management within two successful organic meat companies winning many awards over the years, the past 4 years James has won 12 national awards from professional bodies such as The Soil Association, BPEX, EBLEX and The Green Directory.

We were delighted our products were recognised at the BPEX regional roadshow at the end of January 2008, as a new business these were the first awards we had entered and we walked away with awards for our steak pie, dry cured back bacon, pork sausage and pork and stilton sausage. In April 2008 we won a national award for our home made steak pie made with Aberdeenshire beef and in October 2008 we were highly commended by Gary Rhodes in his search for local food heroes. We are extremely thrilled the industry has recognised the quality we are producing here at Haigs.

Our promise is to use our passion and experience to offer a friendly first class service and we extend a warm welcome to all existing and new customers.
